JA Apparel Sues Abboud Over Trademark Issues

JA Apparel is suing Joseph Abboud for using his name to launch his new Jaz men’s wear line. The group claims that designer’s promotion of Jaz violates its trademarks on the Joseph Abboud name.

Although Abboud signed a two-year non-compete with JA Apparel after he left the company in 2005, he claims that he has the right to use his own name. The group disagrees and is seeking a permanent injunction that would prevent the designer from using his name for marketing and promotional purposes.
